Some career paths start with a clear plan. Mine began with short-time work, further training out of sheer boredom – and jumping in at the deep end. From a luxury hotel to the HR department, from there to the project world at HR factory: how I learned more in a short time than in years before, and why detours are sometimes the most direct route to the destination.

Not every path into HR is straightforward – mine definitely wasn’t. How I found out via the civil service, two in-house positions and a courageous step into the project business that HR is exactly my place.

From furniture retail to HR – in three completely different worlds. Josephine started at HR factory in 2022 and has since worked in an international pharmaceutical company, a foundation and a social institution. In this article, she gives honest insights into her path, her tasks and what she has taken away from each project.
